Season 2023-24
The 2023/2024 season sees Rochdale competing in the National League, following their relegation after 102 years in the football league.
To get the season under way and life in The National League, 8 BURKS, including 2 new caps, saw Dale win 1-0 at Oxford City in front of a crowd of just 784
7 BURKS, including new cap Amy Tickner, were at the August evening game at Woking, which saw Dale lose 3-2.
Derek Cordon became the first 7th Generation BURK by accompanying his daughter Louisa and Tom Tickner to Dale's game at York, which they won 3-1.
Nick Carter and Mick Tickner went to the midweek game at Boreham Wood. The match ended 1-1, watched by just 911 fans.
Solo cap for Barry Gigg at Dorking Wanderers. He was rewarded with two late goals and a 95th minute winner in the 2-1 win for Dale.
8 BURKS, including 4 new caps were at Maidenhead United for the 2-2 draw.
History was made at Wealdstone, where incrediby, a BURK (Jack Cook) played for the oppostion and not only that, scored the winner goal in stoppage time. Jack has 3 caps, having attended games with his Dad Paul Cook (a Bath University Maths graduate). Seven BURKS were there to witness the bitter sweet moment as Dale lost the game 3-2.
After a ten year absense, five BURKS were at Dagenham & Redbridge, where Dale won the game 2-1
A big turnout of 24 BURKS, including 3 new caps, were at Bromley. Dale lost the game 1-0.
Another big turnout of 24 BURKS, including 8 new caps, were at Aldershot. Dale lost the game 3-1. An opportunity to extend the record gap between first and second caps to 38 years was scourned by local Kev Day.
A solo cap for Dunc Battman at the 3-1 defeat away to Altrincham.
6 BURKS were at the 3-1 defeat away to Ebbsfleet United, losing again this season to a last minute goal.
A midweek trip to Barnet and some pre-match beers in Waterloo for the retirees. 8 BURKS where at the game, including a welcome apprearance by Ed and Charlie Bates. Dale lost the game 2-0.
Five BURKS were at Eastleigh, where Dale won 4-1, with one of their best performances of the season.
