Ricky Lambert was Rochdale's hero as his goal-line clearance won a point.
Lambert nodded away John Anderson's 48th-minute header and then nearly won the match for his side when he crashed a shot against the bar late on.
Ex-Rovers striker Paul Tait could also have won it but he just failed to reach substitute Leighton McGivern's cross.
Richard Walker headed the hosts' best chance straight at keeper Matthew Gilks and Rovers were booed off at the end by their lowest league crowd this season.
