Under-fire Cheltenham manager Bobby Gould resigned after seeing his side beaten at home against Rochdale.
The former Wales and Wimbledon boss quit after his side slumped to their sixth defeat in seven games.
Cheltenham had started brightly with Damian Spencer going close early on.
But hopes of a rare home victory were dashed on the half-hour when Rochdale opened the scoring with their first shot on target.
Chris Shuker and Ged Brannan combined for Kevin Townson to steer his shot into the bottom corner.
The victory was sealed in the closing stages when Rochdale's New Zealand international Leo Bertos cut in from the right wing and powered a shot past goalkeeper Shane Higgs.
